what two operating companies have confirmed to us this week

Reserve a vacation package from what is open this week

This page holds whatever is currently confirmed and priced by the companies that run the trips. It is a short list on purpose, and some weeks it is not a list at all.

Read that word plainly. What happens is that your request goes over from here to whoever puts the trip on the ground, and the money route never touches Amber Almanac Bookings LLC at all. There is no box for card details on any page of this site. Until a figure reaches you in writing and you say yes to the conditions with it, nothing anywhere carries your name.

1

An entry reaches this board only after an operating company has told us, in writing, that a specific trip is available on specific dates at a specific starting figure. That written confirmation is the whole test. We do not put a trip up because it is popular, because the season is turning, or because the board looks thin without it. When you reserve a vacation package from this page, you are reserving against a sentence somebody at the operating company typed and put their name to.

Nothing on this board is a price you pay us. Amber Almanac Bookings LLC takes no payment from travellers, holds no card number and runs no checkout. The operating company raises the charge itself, on terms you agreed with it and pays this office a commission once you are home again. That arrangement is worth stating on the page where figures appear, because a figure means very little until you know who collects it.

1

gaspesie

from $1,920

Nine nights in six village inns and one mountain lodge, two of them for three nights at a time, moved between by rental car you drive yourself, with luggage staying in the trunk and carried in by hand each evening.

2

sierra de francia

from $2,190

Eight nights in four family-run village hotels, two nights in each, walking between three of them on marked paths and moving by road once; a van shifts the main bags between hotels on walking days, so you carry a daypack.

3

albanian alps

from $2,230

Nine nights: two in Shkoder in a small hotel, three in a guesthouse in Theth, one in a hut nearer the pass, two in a Valbona guesthouse and one back in Shkoder, moving by van, boat and on foot, with luggage carried ahead by road and packhorse while you walk with a daypack.

4

soomaa

from $2,390

Eight nights, seven in one timber guesthouse near the Riisa side of the park and one in Parnu before the flight home, with a driver moving the party and all luggage in a single van transfer at each end and nothing carried between beds.

5

durmitor

from $2,400

Eight nights, all of them in the same family run guesthouse in Zabljak with private bathrooms and no elevator; a car and driver moves the party to each trailhead in the morning and collects it in the afternoon, so luggage is unpacked once and stays there.

6

strandja

from $2,410

Nine nights: four in a stone village house inland, two in a small family guesthouse near Malko Tarnovo, three in simple rooms above a beach at Sinemorets or Varvara, moved by hired car with a driver, with luggage carried in that car and never on your back.

Season figures exactly as the operating firms supplied them. Nothing ticks here, nothing announces how few beds are left, and no figure wears a line through it. A week when no firm has anything reduced is a week this board runs short, and it runs short rather than inventing an entry.

What an entry has to clear first

A named operator
The company that runs the trip has confirmed it to us by email, not by phone and not by a public listing we found ourselves. | value Real dates | A departure window we can name to you in days, not a vague season. Windows shorter than a week are given as exact dates. | value A starting figure | A per person figure between $1,920 and $3,940, with what it covers and what it does not written out in the same breath. | value Room for two | The operator holds space for at least two travellers on those dates. One remaining berth is not an offer, it is a coincidence. | value A written cancellation rule | The operator's own terms are on file with us before the entry goes up, so the terms for changing or cancelling tells you something true rather than something general. | value A trip already in the catalogue | Nothing appears here that is not one of the twenty four trips. The board is a state of the catalogue, not a second catalogue. | value

Why this page is sometimes blank

Some weeks nothing clears those six tests, and then this page says so in one line and stops. That is the honest condition of a small office that places reservations with other companies: their confirmations arrive when they arrive. Filling the gap would mean putting up something we had not been told, and once we do that the board stops meaning anything at all.

You will not find a clock counting down on this page, a number of places supposedly remaining, a figure with a line struck through it, or a small box announcing that somebody in another state just reserved something. Those four devices exist to make a decision feel urgent when the underlying facts are not urgent. The count of remaining places is almost never read from the operator's system. The struck through figure is almost never a price anyone was charged. We have no way to verify any of it, so we print none of it, and an empty board on a Tuesday is simply a Tuesday when nobody wrote to us.

Reserve against what is printed here

Tell us which entry you want and the dates you have in mind. The form takes requests 24/7. Whatever arrives is gone through by hand before that working day closes. A written figure priced against your particular dates comes back inside two to four working days, once both firms have replied, because two operating companies have to answer before we can put numbers in front of you. If the entry has moved or the operator has closed the window since it went up, we say that in the reply rather than quietly offering you something adjacent.

If you would rather see the whole catalogue instead of this short list, all five orderings sets out the five orders the twenty four trips are printed in, and none of them is a recommendation. the sequence from ask to booked walks through what happens between your request and a confirmed reservation. the questions put to this desk answers the awkward questions, including the ones about money. the form for a written figure is the same form as the one below, on a page of its own.

Make a reservation, or ask before you do

Requests reach this form 24/7; no hour of any week closes it. Anything arriving is opened by somebody here before that working day is out. Putting a figure against your dates runs a further two to four working days, because it waits on two operating firms.

Look for a place to enter card details, on this page or any other, and there is not one. Sending this holds nothing in your name; it opens the enquiry. What turns into a reservation is a written figure you have read, from a firm you can see named, on conditions you have agreed to. Look at the terms for changing or cancelling first.
