Read this page before sending a request. It is written to be understood on one pass, in the order a booking actually happens, and it says plainly where this office stops and the operating company begins.
- 1. Who stands behind this site
- This site is put out by Amber Almanac Bookings LLC, a limited liability company registered with the Nebraska Secretary of State. Everything here is written and maintained from one room at 6940 O Street, Suite 210, Lincoln, Nebraska 68510. Correspondence about a live request goes to sightline@amberalmanac.com. Corrections to the pages themselves go to errata@amberalmanac.com. The name Amber Almanac refers to that office and nothing else.
- 2. Arranging is not operating
- This office is a booking office. It takes your request, works out what fits it, and places the reservation with the company that runs the flight, the hotel, the coach, the boat or the guided days. That company is the operator, and it is the one you travel with. Amber Almanac operates no transport and no lodging whatever, and no operator of either directs it, holds no interest in any of them, and speaks for none of them. Where a trip involves several operators, each is responsible for its own part and none is responsible for another.
- 3. How this office is paid
- Nobody pays this office to be listed and nobody pays to be ordered first. The operator pays a commission after you have travelled and come home. That is the whole of it. It means two things worth stating: the office earns nothing if the trip does not happen, and the office has no reason to steer you toward one operator over another, because the arrangement is the same across the board.
- 4. No money moves on this site
- There is no checkout here, no cart, no card field, no wallet, no stored payment method and no place to type a card number, and none is planned. This office never takes a deposit, a balance or a fee from a traveller. When the trip is confirmed, the operator invoices you directly and you pay the operator under the operator's own payment terms. If any page of this site ever appears to ask you for card details, it has been tampered with: close it and write to errata@amberalmanac.com.
- 5. Nothing is shipped, delivered or returned
- Because no goods are sold here, there is no shipping, no delivery and no returns process, and clauses of that kind would be fiction if they existed. What arrives after a request is a written figure sent by email, and after a confirmed booking, the operator's own documents sent by the operator. Cancelling a booked trip is not a return of goods; it runs on the operator's cancellation terms, which are quoted to you in writing before you commit and summarized at the terms for changing or cancelling.
- 6. Prices are starting figures until they are written down
- Every dollar figure printed on this site is a starting figure per person, drawn from the lowest season and the plainest room the operator sells, and it is there so you can tell one trip from another by scale. It is not an offer and it does not hold. A figure that binds anyone exists only in the written quote priced against your dates and your party, and that quote states what is inside it, what is not, and how long it stands. Where this site and a written quote disagree, the quote is correct.
- 7. The five orderings are facts, not judgments
- The catalogue is one flat list of twenty four trips printed in five orders: beds slept in, flying time, miles on foot, how much is arranged for you, and what it costs to start. Each order sorts by a measurable fact. None ranks quality, none is a recommendation, and the position of a trip in any list carries no opinion about it. This office publishes no assessments, grades nothing and scores nothing, and awards no marks of any kind. Choosing an ordering is choosing which fact matters to you, and that choice is yours. - 8. What is outside this office entirely
- This office puts no cover on sale, offers no view on whether any is wanted, and does not arrange it. It does not sell, check, advise on or interpret entry documents of any kind, and questions about what you are permitted to enter a country with belong to that country's authorities and to you. It gives no medical advice, including on vaccination and fitness to travel, and no legal advice. Where a trip has a physical demand, this site states the demand as a number of miles and hours so you can take it to somebody qualified to judge it.
- 9. Accuracy, and how to report an error
- Pages are checked before they go up and rechecked when an operator changes something, but a site describing trips run by other companies goes out of date between checks. Nights, walking distances, what is arranged in advance and starting figures can all move without notice. Nothing here is warranted to be current at the moment you read it. If you find something wrong, write to errata@amberalmanac.com with the page address and what you believe is incorrect, and it will be looked at and either corrected or explained back to you.
- 10. What this office is answerable for
- This office is answerable for arranging your booking with reasonable care and skill: passing your requirements accurately to the operator, telling you in writing what the operator has confirmed, and telling you the operator's terms before you commit. It is not answerable for the operator's performance, for delay, cancellation, injury, loss or damage arising during a trip, for the acts of any independent supplier, or for weather and conditions on the ground. Claims of that kind lie against the operator under the operator's contract with you. To the fullest extent the law allows, liability arising from this website and from arranging a booking is limited to the commission this office received or would have received on that booking, and no claim for indirect or consequential loss lies against this office. Where the law forbids a limit, none is attempted here.
- 11. Using the site itself
- You may read these pages, print them and quote them with attribution. You may not copy the catalogue wholesale, scrape it, or present it as your own. Text and photographs on the site belong to Amber Almanac Bookings LLC unless stated otherwise. Do not send a request that is not genuine, and do not use the form to send anything unlawful or abusive; requests of that kind are discarded. The form is open at all times. What comes in is seen by a person here before the day's work finishes, opened by somebody here before that working day is out. A written figure priced against particular dates is a two to four working day job, because two firms have to write back, because two operating companies have to answer before it can be written.
- 12. Contact from this office
- Contact runs one way by design: you write first, then this office replies to the address you gave, about the request you sent. There is no mailing list, no newsletter and no marketing messages, and this office does not call people who have not asked to be called. Your details are used to work on your request and are given to an operator only when a quote or a booking requires it.
- 13. The law that applies
- These terms and any dispute about them are governed by the law of the State of Nebraska, and the state and federal courts sitting in Nebraska have jurisdiction. If any clause here is held unenforceable, the rest stands. Nothing in these terms affects rights you hold under consumer law that cannot be signed away.
- 14. Changing these terms
- These terms can change, and the version on this page at the moment you send a request is the version that covers that request. A material change is noted at the foot of this page in plain words rather than announced. Terms already applied to a booking that has been placed do not change afterward. If a change matters to a request already in progress, you will be told about it in the same email thread as the request.
Two contracts, and which one you are reading
It helps to hold these apart. The first agreement is between you and this office, and it covers the site, the request you send, the written figure that comes back and the care taken in arranging. That is the agreement on this page. The second is between you and the operator, and it covers the trip itself: what is provided, what happens if it is not, what you pay and when, and what occurs if either side cancels. That second agreement is longer and it is the one that governs the journey. It is quoted to you in writing before any commitment, and if a term in it looks wrong to you, say so before you accept, because afterward it binds you and this office cannot rewrite it.

Does sending a request commit me to anything
No. A request tells this office what you are after and produces a written figure. It creates no booking, no hold and no obligation on you, and no money is involved at any point in it. You commit when you tell the office in writing to place the reservation, after you have read what the operator's terms say.
Can I get a copy of the operator's terms before I decide
Yes, and you should ask for them if they have not already reached you. The written figure quotes the cancellation and payment terms that apply, and the full operator document goes with it or follows immediately. Nothing is placed until you have seen those terms and said to go ahead.
The starting figure moved between my two visits to the site
That happens, and it is why the figures are labeled as starting points rather than prices. Operators reprice by season and by availability, and this office updates the catalogue when they do. Neither figure was an offer. The number that counts is the one written against your dates.
Who do I take a complaint to about the trip itself
The operator, because the trip is its contract with you and it is the party that can put things right. Write to sightline@amberalmanac.com as well, with what happened and when. This office will pass the account to the operator, chase an answer and tell you what it hears, but it cannot decide the matter or pay out on it.
What happens to what I write on the form
It is read by a person, used to work out what fits, and where a quote or a booking needs it, the relevant parts go to the operator. It is not sold, not traded to advertisers and not added to any list, because there is no list. Ask at errata@amberalmanac.com to have a request and its thread deleted and it will be.
